The Association of Market traders and butchers today met with the Council Chairman of Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa as the Council boss, hinted at the need to have a safe and clean market.
Hon. Olowa while speaking with the traders, enlightened them on the need to take animals to approved slaughterhouses (abattoir) as it is unsafe, if animals are slaughtered in unapproved environments, which makes it unfit for human consumption.
Speaking further, the Council boss hinted that there will be strict monitoring for full compliance of the directive as the Lagos State Government will frown at any indiscriminate slaughtering of animals without the right permit.
In response, the association of butchers pledged to work with the Council Chairman for full compliance on the new directives as they promised to direct all their members to patronise the approved abattoir at Elesekan and General Paint in Ajah.
